for Karnataka FPOs
The Department of Horticulture (DoH, Govemment of Kamataka, has been actively involved in the establishment of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) within the Horticulture sector since the fiscal year 2014-15. To date, various Departments in the State have successfully formed approximately 1350 FPOs, with 214 of them specifically focusing on horticulture crops as a primary commodity. Given the perishable nature of horticulture commodities, their proper handling necessitates a distinct supply chain management system. The strategic development of FPOs plays a crucial role in securing better prices for high-quality products by minimising the involvement of middlemen in the value chain. In collaboration with KAPPEC and APEDA, the DoH is orchestrating a Buyer - Seller meet with an objective to establish direct connections between product buyers and FPOs, thereby aiding the farming community in overcoming the challenges associated with marketing their produce. Another important objective is to create a unified platform for the FPOs, Buyers and other service providers fostering better collaboration and addressing the collective needs of the stakeholders involved.

The FPO-Buyer Seller Meet is focused on exhibition to enable business networking and business ties. Most of the organisations with interest in FPOs should exhibit and reach-out to the key stakeholders. We expect to see around 500-600 key stakeholders to attend& interact with exhibitors.
Benefit to Exhibitors Close to 600 - 700 decision makers from FPOs (president and CEOs from over 225+ FPOs) are expected to come for the gathering from three events. Together these FPOs would represent 2 lakh farmers or about 3 lakh acres of cultivation from across Karnataka. Total value of the produce expected to be around Rs. 1500 cr and the value of inputs expected to be around Rs. 400 to Rs. 500 cr. Thus, the BSM presents a very big and focused opportunity for input suppliers, banks, service providers and buyers of the output.

• Knowledge sharing by experts to FPO on subjects such as compliance requirement, preparing for export market, Public Private Partnership models, Export and related services activities etc
• Information sharing by service providers to FPOs. This will happen mainly from the exhibition booths set-up by the service providers.
• One-to-one business meeting between service provider and FPO. Based on the information gathered, FPO can further discuss and finalise an arrangement with the service provider through one-to-one business meeting.
• Peer-learning from other FPOs. It will be facilitated through a workshop where FPOs are encouraged to share their success stories
